Is the Interactive Brokers (IBKR Pro) cash rate good?
It's below what Treasury bills pay, by enough to matter on a large balance.
Self-directed brokerage. Default option: Interest on USD cash balances, paying 3.38% (On USD balances above $10,000; first $10,000 earns nothing), per the provider's own page, checked October 23, 2026. 3-month Treasury bills: 4.22% (U.S. Treasury, October 23, 2026). Often better: Already close to T-bills for large balances.
How to read this: gross figures annualize today's rate on your balance; rates change. After-tax figures are estimates from your tax settings, with the math under each one. Advantages compare against Interactive Brokers (IBKR Pro) and aren't guaranteed savings. IRAs are compared only with other IRA options, since their interest isn't taxed each year.
